The Ramayan is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature. It is comprised nearly 24,000 verses, divided into seven kandas and about 500 chapters. according to the Hindu Vedas and Puran ,it is also known as the Adikavyam . Ramayana exercises a great moulding power on the life of man. It contains object lessons for husbands and wives, parents and children, brothers and sisters, friends and enemies. it depicts the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, the ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal wife and the ideal king.
Ramayana tells the story of Lord Rama an avatar of the Hindu supreme god Vishnu, whose wife Sita is abducted by Ravana, the king of Lanka. Ravana was great devote of lord Shiva and famous scholar of jyotish shastra .
