El Libro de Enoc (o Libro de Henoc, abreviado 1 Enoc) es un libro intertestamentario, que forma parte del canon de la Biblia de la Iglesia ortodoxa etíope pero no es reconocido como canónico por las demás Iglesias cristianas, a pesar de haber sido encontrado en algunos de los códices por la Septuaginta (Códice Vaticano y Papiros Chester Beatty). La tradición atribuía su autoría a Enoc (transcrito también como Henoc o en inglés Enoch), bisabuelo de Noé. En la actualidad se cree que el texto fue redactado por varios autores judíos entre los siglos III a. C. y I.

Algunos autores consideran que el Libro de los Vigilantes fue, al menos en parte, redactado hacia el 400 a. C.,4​ pero la mayoría estima que las primeras secciones fueron compuestas en el siglo II antes de Cristo, a más tardar en 166 a.C..1​ Los autores podrían depender en parte del Pentateuco, y habrían ampliado las secciones de Génesis, Números y Deuteronomio. Por ejemplo, 1 Enoc 1:9 (la cita en la epístola de Judas 1:14-15) podría ser originalmente un midrash de Deuteronomio 33:2.5​6​7​

El libro astronómico es anterior al Libro de los Jubileos y por lo tanto se remonta por lo menos al siglo III a. C.​ Algunos de los fragmentos de esta parte encontrados en Qumrán han sido datados por los paleógrafos a finales de ese siglo.​ El calendario solar que expone fue el adoptado por la comunidad de Qumrán, la cual consideraba que así como Israel se había desviado del verdadero camino y del testimonio justo, el calendario oficial erraba al determinar las fechas de las fiestas establecidas en la Torah.

The Book of Enoch (or Book of Enoch, abbreviated 1 Enoch) is an intertestamental book, which is part of the canon of the Bible of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church but is not recognized as canonical by the other Christian Churches, despite having been found in some of the codices by the Septuagint (Vatican Codex and Chester Beatty Papyri). The Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jews) include it in the Tanakh, unlike the other current Jews, who exclude it.

The only intact versions of this book that are preserved are in ge'ez, liturgical language of the Ethiopian Church, but several parts are known in Greek, and a fragment in Latin. A fragment in Coptic (93: 3-8) 2 has also been found in Antínoe, and in Qumran multiple fragments were found in Aramaic3 and one in Hebrew (4Q317). The astronomical book is prior to the Book of Jubilees and therefore dates back at least to the third century BC. C. Some of the fragments of this part found in Qumran have been dated by the paleographers at the end of that century.The solar calendar that exposes was adopted by the community of Qumran, which considered that just as Israel had deviated of the true path and of the just testimony, the official calendar erred in determining the dates of the festivals established in the Torah.
