Importance of data in poultry industry: Chicken is by far the most cost effective-source of animal proteins to people. The present day genetically improved poultry birds require scientific management system to keep these healthy and productive. Since treating poultry birds is a costly and unsafe option the basic principle of the poultry flock management is to keep birds healthy by preventing disease and production problems. For this approach collection of flock data on health and performance is the core requirement.

Poultrac-tag-a shed is a data management and decision support system suitable for commercial poultry / turkey farms. The platform consists of three components: (a) Poultrac-Tag-a-Shed App, (b) the Admin panel and (c) dashboard for the farmer as well as integrator. The App enables the farmers and the farm workers collect data day-to-day management data, such as, feed, sickness, mortality, eggs, weight vaccination etc. The App helps the farmers to implement precision farming by generating action and alarm lists for each flock. The unit of the data capture is shed which is identified by a unique number printed on a shed tag along with encrypted QR code. The App is a QR code scanner integrated the flock management system. Each time critical data is to be updated the data entry option is opened after the shed code is scanned. This ensures that the data ids not fudged and is arising from the flock side. The data captured is stored on the webserver and is analysed for important performance indices that is converted into farm advisories and communicated to the farmers and the workers as notification. The day-end notification on work done and pending leads the managers to keep an eye on farm management compliances.

Who are the users? The App will be used by the farmers, farm workers, managers and integrator company executives. The App can be downloaded free of cost but to get the shed registered with a unique number and the flock data to be entered the farmer will have to pay nominal per flock0life fees.
What services will be provided? We will provide web-space, data analysis and notification services. Integrators and large farmers having multicentre shed and farms will also have access to dashboard to monitor the flock performance in real-time
Data Ownership: As per our policy the data of the shed / flocks belong to the owner whereas Poultrac-tag-a-shed is custodian of the data to provide data management services. The aggregated data however will be accessed by Poultrac for purpose of analysis, product services and extension education programs for the benefit of the farmers. The farmer has full freedom to unsubscribe and request for deletion of his flock data by sending a written request.
Privacy and Security: The Company will ensure total data privacy as it will be accessible only to its owner who can authorize his workers to access the farm data. The data is not shared with any other agency. The data is maintained securely with back ups to eliminate any chance of loosing the data. The data is kept on dedicated web-server hired from renowned agencies who follow international standards on data security.
